Procrastination is one of the major problems encountered when learning anything new or even performing everyday acts.
What is procrastination?? Well, it's that lovely little habit of putting off 'unpleasant' tasks till the very last minute...sound familiar? Why do we procrastinate? Because we experience some discomfort in our brains when we think of the tasks we need to perform, or that assignment that we're convinced is particularly difficult, maybe even a conversation that we simply do not want to have; and then we postpone all that unpleasantness till a later date and move on to something more interesting like watching tv, surfing the internet or even sleeping....
But...a solution is here!!!
The Pomodoro
This amazing technique involves working in concentration and a focused mode, meaning no distractions from the tv, cellphones, friends, etc; for 25 mins followed by a reward ( some chocolate or ice cream in my case). Trust me, it works like magic! I know how much procrastination it has helped me avoid over the past few weeks...
It helps you get all the unpleasant stuff done in no time...
Another solution that comes highly recommended involves 'eating your frogs first'.
Now, I don't mean eat live frogs...Just work on the most unpleasant tasks first thing in the morning while you're still fresh and bright...It works best if you're a morning person...I think.
I really hope that you try these out and have even better results...
Keep learning...
